Karen Wright grew up in Williamsburg graduating from Lafayette High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work is frequently exhibited at Art on the Square and An Occasion for the Arts in addition to other regional juried shows. Karen says of her work:
"I have always had a curiosity about light, color, and movement. Designed and handcrafted in my studio located in central Virginia, my work began as a need to create beautiful, functional objects. Jewelry has always been at the top of my wants (really, needs) list. A research project on 19th century French silver brought to light the recurrence of ancient motifs which continue influence on my work today. My work is in sterling silver, gold, and natural gemstones. Using traditional fabrication techniques, careful consideration of scale, weight, and durability result in well balanced, unique pieces to be enjoyed for years."
