Dan Bartges

A full-time artist since 1996, Dan Bartges paints mostly in oils. His artwork has been acquired by private collectors across the country and by a number of Fortune 500 companies including Marriott, Capital One, Markel, Lockheed Martin, Media General, Performance Food Group, and Owens & Minor. His work has been included in several national exhibitions and articles in various publications. The author of the book THE SECRETS TO COLOR HARMONY, Bartges has also lectured on color and art at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and many other venues. In addition, he has conducted art workshops for cancer patients and held weekly art classes for prison inmates.

Bartges earned a B. A. from Hampden-Sydney College, an M. A. from the University of Richmond, and has studied under several prominent regional artists, at the Modlin School of Art (U. of Richmond) and the Studio School of the Virginia Museum. He lives in Richmond with his family and yellow lab and enjoys tennis, squash and classic movies.
