ANIA NERGAARD-NAMMACK

October 16 - November 16, 2007
Ania Nergaar-Nammack, Verticals Ania Nergaar-Nammack, Kajak 2 Ania Nergaar-Nammack, Two Steps

I search primarily for simplicity and clarity. I look at nature but accept the demanding restrictions of the pictorial field. Working simultaneously with positive and negative shapes .... and placing equal importance on both... I seek to achieve a vibrant piece of work in its forms and colors. They interweave with each other, searching for order and equilibrium. Shapes and colors do not necessarily have to match what I see, but their relationship within the canvas. This relationship consists largely of the modification of colors and forms around each other so that the painting will be completed with order and harmony derived from the initial chaos. My work is both representational and non-representational, bringing components of the painting together rather than merely copying from nature. Simplicity is the finished product.
