Ed Gowen
February 17 - March 19, 2004
This
Century Art Gallery will open its newest show on February 17, 2004 presenting
a collection of oil paintings by plein-air artist, Ed Gowen, entitled
“Beauty in the Ordinary—Sharing These Moments." Gowen
tries to capture the magic moments in everyday scenes around us. His mission
is to help the viewer appreciate life, not just the paintings that represent
it. Gowen’s show will continue through March 19th.
A
resident of Lynchburg, VA, Gowen has been drawing and painting all of
his life. Carving his own niche on the rolling hills of Virginia, his
works shine with the brightness of life while others brood with the depth
of shadow. His paintings have been in shows and exhibits from California
to New York City. They presently hang in numerous private and corporate
collections, including BB & T Bank in Roanoke and the City of Lynchburg,
VA.
Admission
is free to This Century Art Gallery. A longtime affiliate and Partner
of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the gallery is a non-profit organization
dedicated to presenting and promoting high quality arts and crafts through
regular exhibits of both visiting and member artists as well as providing
educational and cultural enrichment through a variety of community outreach
programs.
