Rowland Isekeije
February 11 - March 14, 2003
Nigerian-born artist Solomon Rowland Isekeije brings a multi-national sensibility
to his multi-media work. Heavily influenced by the philosopher Joseph
Campbell and his study of collective archetypes, Isekeije uses print
making techniques to reconcile western art with traditional African
forms, seeking similarities between cultural symbols.
With a BFA from Obafemi Awolowo University and an MFA from ODU/Norfolk
State, Isekeije is a former curator of the Lagos UNICEF Gallery, and
a present instructor for ODU’s Governor’s School for the
Arts.
